Although Coach Flo was born in Berlin, Germany, she considers herself a Virginia native. Passionately playing basketball since the age of 9, she has also coached youth and teens on the fundamentals of basketball. She made her mark at Brookings High School where she won several awards for her basketball skills on the court. From being selected as the Best Defensive Player three years in a row to Best Rebounder and Most Inspirational Player on the Varsity team, she has demonstrated her strong athletic ability.
In 2000, Coach Flo began attending Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia where she played basketball for the team. In 2001, she was awarded an NCAA Championship Ring. That summer she was also on the 3 on 3 Summer Hoops team and won that championship as well.
In 2002, she met Coach Simone through the Giessen/Friedberg Lady Knights basketball team where she played for two seasons and won a variety of awards for her success on the team. In 2003, while in Wiesbaden, Germany, she also participated in the 1st Annual Victory Christian Fellowship Church 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and came in 1st place. She continued to play in a German Semi-Pro league for the Marburg Marlins throughout 2004 and 2005.
In addition to playing on the court, Coach Flo has led on the sidelines as a coach teaching basketball skills to students ages 12-14 years. In 2005 she began teaching teenagers and led the JV/Varsity High School Girls Basketball Team (Ages 14-18 yrs old) to the district playoffs.
Coach Flo is married to her "awesome man of God," Omar S. Hurdle. They have one child, Omar S. Hurdle Jr. Coach gave her life to Christ at the age of 8 years old, then rededicated her life in May 2005 at The Messiah Center in Hampton, Virginia. She currently lives in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and attends Faith Mission Ministries, Inc.
